Family, domestic and sexual violence is a major national health and welfare issue that can have lifelong impacts for victims and perpetrators. It affects people of all ages and from all backgrounds, but predominantly affects women and children.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare is a major national agency whose purpose is to create authoritative and accessible information and statistics that inform decisions and improve the health and welfare of all Australians.

Delivery of Recommendations, 2019

The Not Now, Not Ever report outlined recommendations for government and non-government organisations to address domestic and family violence in Queensland.

Four years into the 10-year reform program, significant steps have been taken towards achieving a Queensland free from domestic and family violence as outlined in the Delivery of Recommendations report.

Our Watch Report, 2014

Domestic violence is a serious problem in Australia. When you're reporting on domestic violence, you can help readers, listeners and viewers to see it as an important issue that everyone can take action on.

Our Watch is a national leader in the primary prevention of violence against women and their children in Australia. Change the story is our framework for a consistent and integrated approach to preventing violence against women.

Goals of the Brisbane Region Integrated Approach to Domestic and Family Violence:

• Increase the safety of women and children from domestic violence and improve wellbeing
• Hold perpetrators accountable for their actions
• Commitment to an interagency approach and collective goals
• Increase public awareness about domestic and family violence including available support services.

The Power and Control Wheel is often shown in contrast with the Equality Wheel as the Equality Wheel represents the changes needed for men who use violence to move from being abusive to non-violent in their relationships.

‘Hands are for Holding’ is a tool for adults to discuss issues surrounding violence with young children. The children’s book provides an opportunity to talk with children about not hurting or harming brothers, sisters, friends or family pets.

Domestic and family violence occurs at similar rates in the LGBTIQ community as it does in the broader community, but is hidden. This resource aims to assist both community members experiencing domestic and family violence as well as the people who are supporting them.

This booklet produced by the Queensland Government explains the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and provides information about how to access protection by applying for a domestic violence order using the Act.

The National Plan brings together the efforts of governments across the nation to make a real and sustained reduction in the levels of violence against women.
